The Ultimate Party Band
Musicians Union
Having been asked to recommend a band for the Musicians’ Union teaching conference entertainment evening dinner and dance I had only one band in mind. Having seen Soul Kitchen on numerous occasions I knew they could deliver what was needed for a discerning audience. Quality soul music delivered with panache with a liberal smattering of humour ensured the dance floor was full from the off. The following day delegates were heard to say ‘Wow, what a great band’. Soul Kitchen were subsequently booked to do the same at the Unions Biennial delegate conference. Need I say more!

Soul Kitchen played two long sets at our third Soul Night and everyone at Bures was thrilled with the band and the electric atmosphere they created inside our marquee. Our tent was packed with dancers oblivious to the heavy rain outside as the seven piece group gave their energetic and enthusiastic take on the classic Soul repertoire and some disco favourites.
We all agreed that their appearance provided us with one of the most enjoyable evenings in the history of a festival now thirteen years old. Not only are the seven players in Soul Kitchen consummate musicians - they are also superb entertainers, too. The comment by BBC Radio Suffolk’s Stephen Foster that the group are “the best party band I’ve ever seen” is one we’ll willingly endorse.
Friendly people, too. It was easy to negotiate the format of the evening with Andy (aka Bazzer The Jazzer) - after much head scratching we worked out how he got his stage name, although the origins of the stage moniker of his colleague Snoop Mary From The Dairy remain a puzzle! Most importantly, we liked their great reverence for all the timeless songs of the 60s/70s Soul era and their immaculate musicianship.

Kitchen on fire!
Saturday 17th July 2010 – A Night to Remember in aid of the British Heart Foundation and Burwell First Responders.  In an already highly-charged atmosphere, Soul Kitchen delivered the main course in some style.  Newmarket Racecourse rocked to their sumptuous sounds, their tasty choreography wowed the dancing (and seated) audience alike and the portions were huge!  We booked Soul Kitchen having only heard of them by word of mouth – there are now another 198 (well-fed) mouths telling everyone about this Michelin-quality group – book them now!!
Simon Gibson,
On July 19th 2010 my daughter Kate and I had a joint birthday party to celebrate our 60th and 30th birthdays. I booked Soul Kitchen to play at the party after hearing them at a function I attended at The Trinity Rooms at the Suffolk Showground. I thought they were brilliant that night and everyone was up and dancing from the first number. On the party night they didn’t disappoint. Everyone was dancing, it mattered not a bit that the guests ages spanned the years from 18 to 88 and all the guests commented on what a fantastic band they were. Not just the music but the way that the band members interact with the people at the party. They were very amusing, great to watch if you couldn’t, or wouldn’t, dance and very efficient at setting up and clearing up. They helped to make the evening very special and I will definitely be booking them again for any other parties we have in the future.

Totally fantastic! I booked Soul Kitchen to play at my 40th Birthday party after being bowled over having seen them play at a Corporate event. These guys are not only fabulous musicians but incredible entertainers that put on a show to remember. The atmosphere was electric from the first note and I am still receiving brilliant feedback from my guests. My guests ranged from 1 to 80 years old and the band was a total hit with everyone. They were professional from start to finish – a complete pleasure to work with. Soul Kitchen really are ‘the ultimate party band’ and certainly made my party a very special memory that will stay with me for a long time. Thank you!
Thank you once again – you were brilliant   Bridget
We at Wilkin & Sons in Tiptree are celebrating our 125 year anniversary of Jam making so we needed to make this our birthday celebration something special.  Having seen Soul Kitchen last year at the Toll Fest I booked them immediately knowing this was exactly what we wanted.  They were absolutely brilliant from start to finish they kept us not only entertained but on our feet dancing the night away.  I have had nothing except praise for them – you have wowed Tiptree!  Long may you continue and we hope to invite you back one day.  Its word of mouth that spreads how good bands are and I think that there were definitely not too many cooks in your kitchen – just the right amount.

Take a glorious summer day in the country, add 400 or more friends and family and place in your garden, mix in plenty to eat and drink and then call for the chefs from Soul Kitchen to turn a great party into a weekend that no one will forget. The sound was insanely good - these guys can really play and are seriously professional musicians  -  but the stage show and entertainment on and off the stage was a knockout and had the audience in total rapture. It was fabulous, funny, frenetic and fantastic - how many live bands can drive around your garden in a convertible at the peak of their set?  Brilliant. If you want the best party, you need Soul Kitchen. Thank you so much from all at Scripstock 2010!
